Italian Leather Handbags
A handbag, as the name suggests, is one that is carried in the hand or, if the straps are long enough and comfortable enough, over the wrist. We have several which come with a detachable strap enabling them to be used as either a handbag or as a shoulder bag. We even have an innovative style of handbag, which, by means of a clever system of straps, can be used as a handbag, carried over the wrist, as a shoulder bag or as a backpack. We have a wide range of very high quality leather bags in many different styles, colours and sizes and hope we that you will be able to find the handbag you have been looking for.
Italian Leather Shoulder Bags
A shoulder bag usually has long straps and is designed to be carried over one shoulder. Many of our shoulder bags also have a smaller handle which allows you to carry them as a handbag should you want to. The shoulder bags in our shop come in a variety of styles, including the ever popular tote bag and shopper.
A tote bag, also commonly known as a shopper, tends to be soft and light and have double handles which are fairly long. The actual bag is usually quite large with a wide opening for easy access and more room than an average shoulder bag. This style of bag is ideal for mothers with babies or young children, for days out when you need to carry more than usual with you or for a fun day out shopping.
Our other styles of shoulder bags tend to have detachable and fully adjustable straps enabling you to use them in a variety of ways, as a handbag, shoulder bags of different lengths or as a cross body bag.
Italian Leather Business Bags
Many different styles of bag can be used for business nowadays with messenger bags and backpacks often replacing the traditional leather briefcase. Also, with the advent of smartphones and tablets, men now have more than just a wallet to carry around on a daily basis. With this in mind, we have included messenger bags and backpacks in our business sections all of which are suitable for both men and women.
The more traditional style of business bags we have range from small, slender briefcases to the large, old style school satchel. They all come in the normal tan, brown and black leather associated with business bags, but many come in beautifully dyed leather in colours such as blue, vivid red and green.
A lot of the backpacks in this section are quite small, but large enough for smartphones, tablets, small laptops and documents. This also gives them a dual purpose as they can be used at weekends and for other reasons other than work. Some of the backpacks are dedicated business bags with slots for pens, phones and business cards and are large enough to carry a full size laptop.
A messenger bag is styled on the old style 'post' bag and usually has two or three compartments and a full size flap closing over the whole bag. Our messenger bags come in many different sizes with the larger ones easily capable of holding a tablet and quite a few documents, as well as your phone, wallet and other essentials. Our more expensive styles of messenger bag are made from vintage leather which means that not only will they last a lifetime but they will look better with age. A smaller messenger bag is a very popular style for men to use on a day to day basis, rather than just for work.
Italian Leather Travel Bags
Leather travel bags are a good investment, as they are strong, hard wearing and should last forever. They come in different styles, mainly duffel and backpack, but there some are more square or rectangular in shape. All of the bags in the travel section are ideal carry on bags for when you are flying. All of our travel bags close by means of a full length zip and usually have two additional straps with strong buckles. Nearly all of them have metal studs on the base to protect the travel bag as much as possible.
The duffel travel bags are perhaps the most traditional shape and have a lot of space inside as there tends to be just the one compartment. They have comfortable, padded handles and usually come with a detachable shoulder strap which enables you to carry it like the old style cloth duffel bag. It makes them easy to carry on and off planes as you can use the normal handle when you are in crowds and then carry the duffel bag on your shoulder when walking any distance.
Italian Leather Backpacks
The rucksacks in this section are larger than the rucksacks in the business section. They tend to have just one large compartment inside and a variety of additional compartments on the outside. These extra compartments make them the perfect carry on or hold luggage as you can store the items you want with you on the plane on the outside of the rucksack for easy access and minimum fuss. All of our rucksacks have padded, comfortable straps and are easy to carry. As with the business bags, the more expensive rucksacks are made from high quality, durable vintage leather.
Leather wallets or purses make delightfully inexpensive gifts and for those looking for more extravagant leather gifts, there are plenty of high quality Italian leather bags to choose from.
The History of Italian Leather Bags
Italy has been working in leather since the Saracens introduced the skills to Palermo, in Sicily, around 1000 AD. Around 1300 AD, production moved to the Santa Croce area of Florence, which remains the centre of Italian leather bag production today. The famous handbag brands in Italy, such as Prada, Armani, Fendi and Dolce & Gabbana are well known around the world. Gucci handbags became famous in the 1950s when celebrities such as Jackie Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly became patrons. But it is not just these particular brands that represent the high quality of Italian leather bags.
